ABOUT US

The South African Future Trust (the SA Future Trust) is a champion for small business and enables and supports small businesses by working with various partners in South Africa.

In March 2020 the SA Future Trust was established with a R1 billion donation from Oppenheimer Generations Foundation to support small businesses through the Covid-19 crisis. The SA Future Trust extended direct financial support to businesses so that their employees could continue to receive an income through the lockdown period. This was done by providing interest-free loans to qualifying SMMEs to enable selected employees to receive weekly payments of R750 for a 15-week relief period.

The SA Future Trust continues to focus on accelerating growth and job creation in the small, medium and micro-enterprise (SMME) sector. We believe in the power of the spirit of South African entrepreneurs and their ability to make a difference in South Africa, because they always make things happen. We believe that by investing in small business, we are investing in people. We are helping to create jobs and we are investing in the growth of South Africa.

Partner Organisations
The SA Future Trust partnered with four non-bank financial intermediaries (NBFIs) from 2021 to reinvest funds and resources into accelerating SMME-sector growth.

TRUSTEES

The SA Future Trust was set up as an independent trust with public benefit organisation (PBO) status. There are four independent Trustees and one appointed by the initial donor, Oppenheimer Generations Foundation – a member of the Oppenheimer Generations community.

The Trustees are responsible for the overall control and strategic direction of the SA Future Trust. They meet regularly to discuss and review strategies, policies and operations, giving their time and support voluntarily.
